Kaua’i Hawai’i

We decided to take a Hawaiian vacation to celebrate Mike’s PhD thesis defense and graduation.  It was also our 3rd wedding anniversary, which made the trip extra special.  We traveled with our friend Annaleen to the Hawaiian island of Kaua`i.  We spent 10 days on this beautiful island snorkeling, hiking, surfing, kayaking and boating.  We were very fortunate to have seen so much of the awesome Na Pali coast.  Lacking in the serious wild life of our South African vacation, we did get to see two extremely rare monk seals, swim with several sea turtles and observe large pods of spinner dolphins.  We also had a fun night out at a luau.  By the end of it, we had eaten our weight in fish and tropical fruit.  While we were sad to leave, we are really looking forward to making the trip back soon.

(Mike fell on my camera at the Hanakapi’ai Falls, so many of the pictures are blurry.  At least the camera still took pictures...)
