Longs Peak

Finally, after six summers of hiking the Rocky Mountains, we climbed Longs Peak (14259’) on July 8, 2007. Chris and Peter joined us as we ascended the Class 3 Loft Route to the saddle between Meeker and Longs and then followed Clark’s Arrow around the base of the Palisades and up to the Homestretch leading to the summit.  Mike and Chris jaunted over to Pagoda Mountain (13497’) while Peter and Marella descended the classic Keyhole Route.  The typical summer thunderstorm chased us back to the car, but we were happy to cross this one off our list: 19 miles, 8500 ft, 14 hours.
