Vicary and Spider Lakes,

The Massasauga, Oct. 2011

Quickly after our first trip to The Massasauga, we book a second trip for the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.  This was a break from our tradition of Thanksgiving trips to Algonquin, and we were not disappointed.  First, we were rewarded with amazing Fall colors!!  Being a bit further south than Algonquin this year, we were finally able to see the spectacular red maple leaves.  Second, an unseasonably warm weekend made it possible to swim, although the water was pretty cold, and to really enjoy hanging out lakeside.

Again, we started out from the Three Legged Lake access point and took the 370 meter portage into Spider Lake.  We then took the 500 and 90 meter portages into Vicary Lake.  The next morning, we back tracked back to Spider Lake for the night.  On our last day out, we paddled back across Spider Lake to the 370 meter portage into Three Legged Lake.
